NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - A Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal judge ruled Tuesday evening that Robert Durst, a murder suspect arrested Sunday in New Orleans, will be transferred to a mental health facility inside a St. Gabriel correctional center.
Durst, who was taken into custody at the J.W. Marriot Hotel, faces a murder charge in California for his involvement in the 2000 murder of Susan Berman in Los Angeles. Authorities found a gun and marijuana in Durst's hotel room.
Durst appeared before a Magistrate Judge, Tuesday, who granted the defendant's motion to remain in Orleans Parish Prison. The Magistrate Judge's ruling was later overturned by a Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal Judge.
Durst, a 71-year-old wealthy heir, is the subject of HBO's "The Jinx" documentary. Durst is due to arrive at the Acute Mental Health Facility at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center, Tuesday night.
