NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Cars and buses whip by on North Broad and Esplanade on any given day.
"A lot of cyclists come through here, too. Racers, people pleasure biking and tour groups go by. It's a pretty busy intersection," says Scott Bullock.
Bullock says he spends two or three days a week riding his bike down Esplanade, and he usually feels pretty safe.
"I can't really say there's been an area that I felt uncomfortable riding in," Bullock says.
One cyclist though wasn't so lucky Tuesday afternoon. Police say three gunmen jumped out of car, approached him and demanded his belongings. The victim only had his car keys in his pocket, so the robbers took them and drove off.
"I think they take advantage of people. Even though there's a lot of activity, no one suspects daylight robberies, so maybe that's part of their plan," says Greg Barnes.
In addition to the armed robbery on Esplanade, police are also investigating a bold crime that unfolded in front of a surveillance camera in the Marigny. Two armed robbers with their faces covered approached a man in the 1000 block of St. Anthony Thursday at around 9:30 p.m. They grabbed him, pushed him up against a wall and stole his belongings before taking off on foot.
