LA Attorney General: Woman arrested for illegally billing state medicaid program

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

A Tickfaw woman has been arrested for Medicaid Fraud after illegally billing the Louisiana Medicaid Program for services that she did not provide. Diana L. Brownlee, 64, was taken into custody Tuesday and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

According to a spokesperson with the Louisiana Attorney General's Office, Brownlee is a direct service worker who worked for two different personal care agencies in Tangipahoa and Livingston Parishes. She was accused of submitting false time sheets and service logs which she turned into both agencies.

Attorney General Medicaid Fraud Control Unit Investigators found that Brownlee marked that she worked hours simultaneously at both locations, a total of 17 times between March 2012 and June 2014.

Medicaid providers hire service workers to provide caregiver services such as cooking, grooming and bathing to physically handicapped or elderly Medicaid recipients.

The Attorney General's Office says that those who need to report suspected Medicaid fraud, are asked to call the Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit at 888-799-6885.
