NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

A woman is dead following a Thursday night stabbing in the parking lot of a St. Roch McDonald's. The victim's boyfriend, 38-year-old Christopher Hutsell, has been arrested in connection with the stabbing.

The stabbing happened around 11:30 p.m. Thursday in the 3000 block of Elysian Fields Avenue.

Police say that Hutsell and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation in the parking lot of the fast food restaurant. He produced an unknown object and stabbed the victim in the neck, officers say.

The victim was transported to the hospital where she later died.

During the course of the investigation, witnesses observed Hutsell running into the 2400 Block of Elysian Fields Avenue. Officers quickly located him and transported Hutsell to the homicide division for questioning. Officers say he refused to answer any questions.

Hutsell was booked and charged with one count of second degree murder.

Police say both Hutsell and the victim are believed to be homeless. The victim did not have any form of identification on her person during the time of the investigation, police say.
