COVINGTON, LA (WVUE) - A Slidell man faces a sentence of up to life in prison after he was convicted of heroin possession.
A St. Tammany Parish jury found Jabari Smith, 39, guilty of the possession charge on Wednesday. It was his sixth conviction on drug charges.
St. Tammany Parish officers investigated information that led them to Smith's residence in October, where they discovered 3.5 grams of heroin hidden in a shoe, according to prosecutors.
Smith's record includes convictions on marijuana, cocaine, heroin and weapons charges.
Jury deliberations in the case lasted about an hour.
