LOS ANGELES (WVUE) - Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro released a statement Friday saying that he expects former Saints player Darren Sharper to begin entering formal guilty pleas as soon as Monday in the rape cases pending against him in four states. He faces state and federal charges.
The statement reads:
Prosecutors have reached a deal in the Los Angeles rape case, according to a spokeswoman with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. The office would not comment on specifics of the settlement until Monday morning.
Sharper's attorney said Friday that Sharper would enter a plea Monday in California that would resolve sexual assault allegations pending in New Orleans, Las Vegas and the Phoenix area, according to the Associated Press.
Sharper was charged Friday morning with rape by prosecutors in Las Vegas.
