NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The body recovered from the Mississippi River on Thursday has been identified as that of a man suspected of killing his wife and son in 2014.
Ronald Green Sr. was identified through dental records.
Eleven months prior, shortly before 2 a.m. on April 17, 2014, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office received a call from someone who said the suspect had called her and said he had killed his wife, Dewona, and 12-year-old son, Ronald Jr., and planned to jump off the Mississippi River Bridge.
Ascension Parish Sheriff's deputies found the victims' bodies in their Lakeway Cove Drive home in Gonzales. Both had been shot.
Soon after, deputies found Green's car abandoned and still running on top of the Veterans Memorial Bridge in St. John Parish.
APSO detectives believed that Green had followed through on his intention to jump from the bridge, but over the past year, detectives were still pursuing the case as if he were alive, monitoring his financial accounts for possible activity.
