NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Richard White, the Kenner man who was shot by a Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Deputy after attacking TSA agents at Armstrong International Airport, has died. A Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Department spokesperson says the 63-year-old was pronounced dead Saturday at 4:02 p.m.
White, who was armed with a can of wasp spray, a machete and molotov cocktails, attempted to get through a security checkpoint in Concourse B Friday night. After injuring TSA agents with the spray and attempting to hurt a female agent, White was shot three times by the deputy. He was taken into custody and admitted to a local hospital. The female TSA agent suffered a graze wound to the arm by one of the bullets.
The incident caused people to scramble and fall resulting in minor injuries. Six people were evaluated by EMS but refused medical treatment. Four were taken to East Jefferson General Hospital, one of them in serious condition.
