NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A 36-year-old pizza delivery driver was found shot to death Tuesday morning inside of a vehicle in the Lower 9th Ward.
The incident occurred in the 6100 block of North Roman Street. Shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday, police received reports of shots fired in the area.
The driver worked for Domino's Pizza and was on-duty when the shooting happened.
A spokesperson for Domino's said he was a dedicated employee who leaves behind a wife and three young children.
"He was a great team member, he was loved, he did everything that we asked," Robert Tedesco, the Vice President of the franchise said, "recently [he] went through some hard times with his vehicle, and a lot of times when our drivers go through that, they'll just quit, and he was like, 'What can I do, I'm trying to raise a family, can I stay inside and just make pizza until my car gets fixed,' and recently his car got fixed and he was back out on the street, doing what he loved to do, driving around, delivering pizzas. "
The franchise spokesperson said he had fewer than $20 on him when he was killed.
The victim's name is being withheld pending family notification.
