Jazz Fest "cubes" released

You can get your plan together because Jazz Fest Cubes are out with just 30 days to go find out all the ins and outs of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival 2015.

The morning started with the chants of Mardi Gras Indians in full dress. “This is New Orleans y'all. Nowhere else in the world,” proclaimed Quint Davis long time Jazz Fest organizer.

With an emphasis on heritage, The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival producer Davis drummed up excitement for 2015. Davis said, “When we talk about the cubes and the cubes being out today that's what we mean it's the poetry of New Orleans and Jazz Fest.” Poetic pairings of mega local talent leading up to headlining world re-known performers such as Irvin Mayfield and The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra and Allen Tousaint preceding Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett close the first weekend on the Gentilly Stage.

Davis said, “There's no other city in the world that not only has so much talent, but there's no other festival in the world that is structured that way that it has the music of it's own all day everyday.” In a first the Congo Square poster will reign over the entire festival featuring the late Chief Bo Dollis. “The portrait is just beautiful, it's just overwhelming, my heart is just full,” said Laurita Dollis his widow. His wife and son accepted the honor after his recent passing. She said, “I know he is here now. I truly miss him daily. I'm just going day by day.”

An example of another way Jazz Fest takes Louisiana's soul to the world. In a unique twist this year instead of a foreign culture the festivals cultural exchange program is working with NOCCA in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts molding local students into world-wide talent.

The cubes give all the details on who plays which stage and time. Organizers also released the full list of food and art vendors.

Headliners this year include Elton John, The Who, Jimmy Buffett, Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga and John Legend.

The first weekend of Jazz Fest starts on April 24. The closing acts will play Sunday, May 3.
