Police: Man arrested for shooting ex-girlfriend

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Police arrested a man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend. Investigators say 33-year-old Lance Gastinell shot the 30-year-old woman, Tuesday, in the 6100 block of Tullis Drive.

The victim reportedly told officers she was dropping off a friend at an apartment complex. She said when she got out of her car, Gastinell approached her. The pair allegedly began arguing, then got into a physical altercation. During the fight, Gastinell allegedly pulled out a pistol and shot the victim in the leg. The victim said she drove herself to the hospital where she was treated and released.

During the investigation, the victim identified Gastinell as the person who shot her. Police took him into custody Wednesday morning. Detectives say he was uncooperative during the arrest.

Gastinell was booked and charged with one count of aggravated battery by shooting.
