NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - ?
People upset about City Park's plan to transform acres of the park into a championship golf course hope a lawsuit will put an end to construction.
The City Park for Everyone Coalition announced Wednesday its intentions to sue City Park and FEMA over the golf course project.
The coalition says funding for the golf course includes $10 million dollars in state funds. It does not think it's appropriate for that much money being spent on a golf course when the state is in the middle of budget problems.
Developers expect it will cost about $24.5 million dollars to build the course. They think they can complete construction in 2017.
City Park wants to see the lawsuit before it responds.
