Central City double shooting suspect arrested after Crimestoppers tip

A suspect wanted in a Central City double shooting has been arrested following a Crimestoppers tip.

James Marcelin, 23, was wanted in a double shooting that happened around 9:40 p.m. Sunday in the 1900 block of Third Street.

According to police, a 28-year old man and a 36-year old woman were walking down Third Street when Marcelin shot them. EMS arrived and took the male victim to an area hospital. The female victim was taken to the hospital by private car shortly after the shooting. Both victims are recovering from their injuries.

Acting on the tip sent in to Crimestoppers, police searched the home of Marcelin on Thursday. Inside they found Marcelin with a stash of bullets, marijuana and $5,000 in cash.

Police booked him with two counts of aggravated battery by shooting, possession of marijuana and violation of his probation.
