NOPD: Algiers couple wanted for gun, drug charges

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department is searching for an Algiers couple wanted for gun and drug charges. Ivan Sotres, 24, and his girlfriend Diamond Smith, 23, are wanted after detectives executed a search warrant at their home in the 500 block of Huntlee Drive and recovered drugs, a gun and thousands of dollars in cash.

Police say that detectives were alerted of possible illegal activity at a home through a Crimestoppers tip. After investigating, detectives were able to gather enough information the obtain the warrant. The warrant was executed on Thursday.

A loaded .40 caliber handgun, over $8400 in cash and 72 grams of high-grade marijuana were recovered from the home. Neither Sotres nor Smith were home at the time of the execution of the warrant.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating Ivan Sotres and Diamond Smith. Once located, they will be booked with gun and drug charges, police say.
