NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Members of the New Orleans Police Department's Special Operation Division arrested two men in New Orleans East for gun charges. Authorities took 21-year-old Isaiah Porter and 22-year-old Yasmond Perry into custody, Monday, on separate charges.
According to police, just before 11 p.m., officers made a traffic stop in the 6900 block of Downman Road. While investigating, police found Porter in possession of a loaded handgun and 41.81 grams of marijuana. He was brought to jail and booked with possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana and multiple traffic violations.
Nearly 30 minutes later, police pulled a car over in the 5900 block of Boeing Drive. Officers made the stop because the driver, later identified as Perry, was driving erratically. While being questioned, Perry admitted that he had a .38 caliber revolver. Officers took possession of the gun and place Perry under arrest. Police learned that he was under probation until 2017 for burglary. He was booked with felon in possession of a firearm and multiple traffic violations.
