(WVUE) - The body of a woman found in the Bogue Chitto River Wednesday has been positively identified as that of a missing mother who disappeared after her boat capsized Saturday.
St. Tammany Parish Coroner Dr. Charles Preston confirmed the body as that of missing boater Jonie Morgan. 31.
The body was recovered at about 6 p.m. less than a mile downstream from where three children were rescued following a boating accident. The body of a man who was with the children at the time of the incident was recovered last weekend.
Investigators said the boat capsized in turbulent water near a low damn structure where the Pearl River navigational canal meets the Bogue Chitto.
An autopsy is pending. The incident is being investigated by Wildlife and Fisheries.
