NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The state hopes tax credits will help convince developers to come forward with plans to overhaul Charity hospital.

It put out a request for information for redevelopment of the one million-square-foot property, pushing the idea that tax credits and other development incentives will be tied to the project.

Charity has not been used since Hurricane Katrina damaged it nearly 10 years ago.

People interested in taking on the project must submit proposals by July 1.
