Woman at stop sign carjacked in Desire neighborhood

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Police are searching to two men who allegedly carjacked a woman at a stop sign

The incident happened around 9:15 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Industry Street and Desire Parkway.

The victim, a 48-year-old woman, told police she was driving her beige Toyota 4runner when she came to stop for the stop sign at the intersection. She tells officers that two unknown black males approached both sides of the vehicle. One of the suspects produced a handgun, pointed it at her and demanded the vehicle.

The victim complied and exited the vehicle. Police say the suspects drove off in the vehicle heading towards Louisa Street.

The first suspect has been described as a black male with a bald head and dark complexion. Officers say he is approximately 5'6" and weighs 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark colored jump suit and armed with a handgun.

The second suspect is described as a light complexion black male.

The stolen vehicle is a 1998 beige Toyota 4runner bearing Louisiana plate number WBD764. The vehicle is missing the front bumper and it has a dent on the rear door hatch.
