PONCHATOULA, LA (WVUE) - Police charged a Kenner man with vehicular homicide after he struck and killed a pulled-over driver on I-55 Sunday morning.
According to State Police, two drivers were involved in a minor crash on I-55 northbound near Ponchatoula around 4 a.m. Both drivers pulled over into the left shoulder and got out of their vehicles to discuss the crash when a Toyota truck driven by 43-year-old Scott Parfait crashed into on of the drivers and their Honda sedan.
The driver of the Honda was killed by the second crash.
Police arrested Parfait on charges of Vehicular Homicide, Careless Operation and Driving Under Suspension. Drug impairment is suspected on Parfait's part and toxicology tests are pending.
The deceased driver's name is being withheld pending notification of family.
