Body pulled from bayou after Sunday afternoon crash

The body of a 22-year-old man was recovered from Bayou Black on Monday evening following a crash on Sunday afternoon.

The body of Levonti Bogen, 22, was recovered around 7:15 p.m. Monday following an extensive search of the bayou.

Officers say that Bogen was reported missing on Monday morning. Family members say they tried to contact Bogen after hearing of a crash in the bayou on Sunday afternoon.

Terrebonne Parish deputies responded to the 6100 block of North Bayou Black Drive on Sunday in reference to a single vehicle crash. The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and went into the bayou.

Deputies arriving on the scene say they found a blue Ford Explorer fully submerged. The vehicle was removed from the bayou and no one was found inside.

Officers say they received reports that the driver of the vehicle managed to escape the vehicle and swim to the bank.

After receiving reports of the missing man on Monday, water patrol deputies and detectives searched the wooded area. His body was discovered 7:15 p.m.

An autopsy is scheduled for 12 p.m. Tuesday.
