Men sought for allegedly beating uncle with construction items

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department is asking for the public's help in tracking down 24-year-old Darrell Lindsey and Wilbert Caffrey. They're wanted for aggravated battery for an incident that happened April 6 in the 100 block of Woodland Highway in Algiers.

Investigators say at around 3 p.m., a 52-year-old man was his cleaning up in his backyard when he got into in a verbal argument with his nephew, Lindsey. During the argument, police say Lindsey threw several pieces of a cement cinderblock at the victim.  

Police say Lindsey then tried to put the victim in a choke hold. Meanwhile, investigators say the victim's niece's boyfriend, Caffrey, picked up a handheld wood sander and hit the victim with it several times.

Investigators say after the altercation, both suspects fled the scene.    

The victim was hospitalized, but his injuries were not life-threatening.
