NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Partly sunny over downtown, but even with all the clouds it is a fairly pleasant day even if it is very warm. Temperatures around the area are peaking in the middle 80s this afternoon. We have managed to see a few showers develop with the warm moist air in place across the area. Radar continues to show a few returns, but no major widespread rainfall is expected for the next couple of days. Temperature wise we will remain warm in the middle 80s for afternoon highs and lows in the middle to upper 60s over the next couple of nights.
The next big change comes late Thursday as a cold front approaches the area. A few showers develop late Thursday ahead of the front, but the real rain chance is Friday. The cold front is expected to stall leaving a focus for showers and possibly some stronger thunderstorms with hail on Friday. The stalled front will likely keep rain around through most of the day on Saturday as well. With the French Quarter Fest and other big weekend events coming up there is a little hope that the boundary stalls farther to the north. We will have to keep a close eye on the forecast through the week.
