NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - An Orleans Parish grand jury has indicted millionaire real estate heir Robert Durst in connection with gun charges in Louisiana.
Durst is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a firearm along with a controlled substance.
FBI agents said they found a gun and marijuana in his hotel room on March 14. However, Durst's attorneys said the state has not even tried to meet the burden of probable cause. They also claimed the state filed an unauthenticated copy of Durst's arrest warrant.
Wednesday, Orleans Parish Criminal Court Judge Arthur Hunter ordered Durst held without bond.
Durst's attorneys are trying to get the real estate heir extradited to California where he is charged with first-degree murder in the 2000 shooting death of his friend Susan Berman.
