Quentin Alexander, Joey Cook advance into 'American Idol' top 7

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Two American Idol contestants with New Orleans ties have advanced into the top 7.

Brooklyn's Qaasim Middleton was eliminated from the show Wednesday night, leaving Quentin Alexander and Joey Cook one step closer to becoming the winner. Wednesday's theme was "Billboard Hits."

Alexander, a McDonogh 35 Senior High School alum, performed "Latch" by Disclosure featuring Sam Smith.

Cook, a New Orleans implant and Virginia native, decided to take on Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball."
