FOX 8 Defenders: Limo company fails to pay fine

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The subject of an ongoing FOX 8 Defenders investigation had 60 days to pay a $2,000 fine for alleged violations we exposed, but the Louisiana Public Service Commission tells us the Marrero limo company never paid up.

"I don't know what they expect will be different about this one. You know why they can't do more than just a $2,000 fine?" asked a local consumer who did not want to be identified.

Several local brides gave their testimony on bad dealings with Louisiana Limousine - dealings the FOX 8 Defenders started exposing a year ago next month in May. Instead of the white limo bus she reserved and paid for, a black and red school bus showed up for this local bride's wedding and more than an hour late. In another case, a local bride paid for a limo for her big day, but it never showed up.

"These people that he does actually pick up and they get on his buses, know, they may be in danger," explained another consumer in previous interviews.

None of the consumers whose stories we've exposed have received refunds, and they agree that what's more frightening - because this company isn't registered to operate in Louisiana - it means no one's checking for insurance and vehicles aren't getting annual inspections on things like tires and emergency exits.

A spokesperson for the PSC says its staff will now advise the full commission on its next step.
