NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

An alleged accomplice of convicted serial sex offender Darren Sharper appeared in federal court today for arraignment.

Former St. Bernard Parish sheriff's deputy Brandon Liccardi pleaded not guilty to drug and rape charges. Prosecutors allege that Liccardi and Sharper gave drugs to women with the intention to commit rape. Licciardi is also accused of obstruction.

Liccardi was wearing shackles and an orange jump while looking towards his family, who was sitting behind him in the courtroom.

Sharper, a former NFL star and Saints player, will serve at least nine years in prison after agreeing to plea deals in California, Arizona and Nevada. He is expected to enter pleas in state and federal court in New Orleans.
