Robert Durst indicted in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Robert Durst, 71, was indicted Friday on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to U.S. Attorney Kenneth Allen Polite Jr.

According to the indictment, on or about March 14, Durst unlawfully possessed a Smith and Wesson .38 caliber revolver after having been previously convicted in 2004 in Pennsylvania for possessing a firearm while under indictment and possessing a firearm while a fugitive from justice.

The potential sentence in this case is a maximum of 10 years in jail, a fine of $250,000, a maximum of three years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment fee.

Assistant United States attorneys Myles Ranier and Michael McMahon are in charge of the prosecution.
