Nicondra: Rain may slow, but won't stop FQ Fest this weekend

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The National Weather Service put out a flood advisory for St. Bernard Parish, Jefferson Parish and Orleans Parish until 5:45 p.m.

A cold front moving into the area brought thunderstorms with it causing heavy rains on the north and south shores and temporarily shutting down the French Quarter Festival.

The front is moving slowly, but it still appears it will make it south of the coast, clearing us out somewhat for Saturday and early Sunday. Saturday morning looks to be the driest period with rain coverage picking up again late in the day.

Right now it looks like the French Quarter Festival and areas along the coast will see the least coverage through the weekend, while the Hammond area has more opportunities at storms with the Strawberry Festival. Neither location will stay completely dry. We start a pattern of daily rain through next week.
