NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The Pelicans welcomed back point guard Jrue Holiday, temporarily lost superstar Anthony Davis to injury and pulled away to beat the Phoenix Suns 90-75 on Friday night.
Holiday played 16 minutes, scoring two points and dishing out five assists. Holiday missed the prior 41 games with a stress reaction in his lower right leg.
"I felt pretty good," Holiday said. "It felt good to get back out there, trying to help the team bring some energy. It was really fun."
Anthony Davis took an elbow to his throat early in the second quarter and did not return until the fourth quarter. Davis still tallied a team-best 19 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Omer Asik pulled down a season-high 18 rebounds for the Pels, while Eric Gordon also tallied a team-best 15 points.
With the win, New Orleans improved to 43-36. Oklahoma City also won Friday night to maintain the same mark, but the Pelicans hold the head-to-head tiebreaker for the eighth playoff spot in the Western Conference.
The Pelicans will face the Rockets in Houston on Sunday.
