A cold front pushed into Southeast Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast Friday bringing heavy rain and a few severe thunderstorms to the north.
Checking out our festival forecast for Saturday, early seems to be your best bet for both with the French Quarter Festival and the Pontchatoula Strawberry Festival with several dry hours early in the day and late afternoon showers moving into the area.
Here's how the models work out with our RPM model first showing us the front stalling along the coast and giving us a break early in the day. The warm front begins to move north making it's way in late Saturday and then while we are on the warm side an upper level disturbance will move in Sunday picking up coverage and likely making it the wettest day of the weekend.
VIPiR keeps things a little drier holding the showers off until Sunday altogether. As we head into next week rain chances stay high each day. Get updates with the Fox 8 weather app while you are on the go forecast and interactive radar are at your fingertips.
