Tulane prevents sweep with 3-1 decision over Houston

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Tulane put the ball in the hands of Alex Massey Sunday to prevent a sweep to American Athletic Conference foe Houston, and the redshirt junior delivered in a big way.

Massey pitched a complete game, striking out five to lead the Green Wave to a 3-1 victory over the Cougars.

While Massey shined on the mound, Hunter Hope led the Tulane (22-14, 3-6) offense with a double and two RBIs.

The Cougars (23-13, 4-5) were led by Connor Wong who hit a solo home run.

The Green Wave return to action Tuesday, hosting Southern Miss at 6:30 p.m.

FOOTBALL This 7-9 business won't work again on Airline Drive. You finish with that mark four years in a row, and Drew Brees will be gone after the 2017 season. Vegas has the Saints over/under on wins at 8, so the bettors think they'll stay close to that 7-9 record. Will they finish at .500, or under again as they did in 2014-16, I can't give you a definitive answer on that. No Dannell Ellerbe this season, and the offensive line missing Terron Armstead and Max Unger for cam...
