NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Two robberies Sunday morning happened within 20 minutes and less than half a mile of each other, both on streets where a lot of college students live.
New Orleans Police say the first happened just before 3 a.m. on Willow near Burdette.
Neighbors tell FOX 8 two college students, ages 20 and 23, were coming home when a man armed with a gun approached them. He demanded the house keys from one of the victims and when she refused, police say the gunman hit her in the face with the weapon.
Neighbors saw the robber and another person run away, taking the women's valuables.
Less than 20 minutes later, police say a man armed with a gun approached a 21-year old woman on Lowerline at Claiborne. The gunman demanded the woman's purse.
Tulane Police issued a warning to students because both crimes happened close to the school. In each case, the suspect description is different but police are investigating any possible connection between the two.
Detectives are also investigating an armed robbery that happened on the other side of Carrollton Avenue early Saturday.
Investigators say a gunman approached two men near Cohn and Cambronne around 3:30 a.m.
The robber made off with the men's valuables.
Police ask anyone with information in either case to call Crime Stoppers at 822-1111.
