Robbery, battery suspect arrested after being recognized by victim

LAFOURCHE PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a Larose man accused of armed robbery and aggravated battery. Neighbors said on Saturday, around 7 a.m., they were awaken to find two men standing inside their residence, wearing ski masks. One of the men pointed a gun at the victims as both demanded money. Police say a third victim came into the room and recognized one of the assailants to be 22-year-old Jude Cantrelle, Jr. At that point, both men left the residence. The victims said they found that $15,000 dollars in property, missing.

Investigators say the victim and a neighbor, who also claim to have been robbed by Cantrelle, went to his home later that day to confront him. After an argument with Cantrelle, the victims said they were trying to leave when Cantrelle hit them with a black pipe.

The victims called the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's office who arrested Cantrell. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention center on charges of simple burglary, aggravated battery, simple escape, armed robbery, resisting an officer, and disturbing the peace. Investigators say he also had outstanding warrants.
