Pelicans keep playoff pace, beat Timberwolves

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

One day after being outscored 35-28 in the fourth quarter of a loss at Houston, the Pelicans kept their foot on the gas at Minnesota Monday night to win, 100-88.

Anthony Davis led the way with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 blocks.  Tyreke Evans and Eric Gordon chipped in with 22 points each.

With a Thunder victory over the Trail Blazers, the Pelicans must beat San Antonio Wednesday or get a Thunder loss at the hands of Minnesota to clinch a playoff spot on the final night of the regular season.

Davis says the team is ready to finish strong "We've got to get our minds right," Davis said. "Tomorrow's going to be an off day.  We're going to get a chance to get our minds right, take care of our bodies and get ready for Wednesday.  It's winner-take-all.  The good thing about it is that we get to do it on our home floor where our crowd is going to be there loud.  It's a great San Antonio team and we know that we have beat them, we have done so in the past.  It's going to be a tough game, we're just excited knowing we control our own destiny."

FOOTBALL This 7-9 business won't work again on Airline Drive. You finish with that mark four years in a row, and Drew Brees will be gone after the 2017 season. Vegas has the Saints over/under on wins at 8, so the bettors think they'll stay close to that 7-9 record. Will they finish at .500, or under again as they did in 2014-16, I can't give you a definitive answer on that. No Dannell Ellerbe this season, and the offensive line missing Terron Armstead and Max Unger for cam...
