NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

First Lady Michelle Obama and Jill Biden are scheduled to travel to New Orleans.

Obama and Biden, the wife of Vice President Joe Biden, are scheduled to appear in New Orleans on Monday, April 20.

They will join Mayor Mitch Landrieu to highlight the "Mayor's Challenge to End Veteran Homelessness."

Obama and Biden will discuss efforts being led by Landrieu to help other cities learn from the progress underway in New Orleans.

In June 2014, the First Lady launched the Mayors Challenge. New Orleans was among the first cities to sign up.

According to the White House, 355 mayors, seven governors and 112 other local officials have committed to ending veteran homelessness in their communities by the end of this year. In December 2014, New Orleans became the first major city to meet the challenge.
