Thibodaux Police: Officers find man with stolen police hubcaps under his shirt

THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) -

A man who told police he was homeless man was arrested Tuesday after officers found him trying to hide stolen hubcaps under his shirt, according to the Thibodaux Police Department.

James Meyers, 40, was released from the Lafourche Parish Detention Center after posting his $2,500 bond.

At 7:12 a.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of Henry Schuyler Thibodaux Street after getting a call about a suspicious person. Officers found Meyers trying to hide four hubcaps that he had allegedly stolen from decommissioned police cars stored on city property in the area. Meyers told officers he planned to sell them.

Meyers was previously convicted twice of felony theft in 2009 and 2010. He also was arrested in March of this year for theft.
