Man stole thousands from Frenchmen Art Market, police say

New Orleans police are searching for a man who allegedly stole over $4,000 in cash from the Frenchmen Art Market.

Jerome Lomax, 43, is wanted in connection to a business burglary. The incident happened around 3 a.m. Wednesday at the Frenchmen Art Market, located in the 600 block of Frenchmen Street.

Officers say they believe Lomax broke into the front door and entered the closed business. Video surveillance shows suspect walking out of the business carrying a black safe containing over $4,000 in cash, officers say. The suspect was last seen walking towards Chartres Street and crossing Elysian Fields.

During the course of the investigation, detectives say citizens helped identify the suspect.

Police say Lomax is known to frequent North Claiborne and Elysian Fields Avenues. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
