Firefighters rescue trapped driver

COVINGTON, LA (WVUE) -

Firefighters helped rescue one person trapped in a multi-car accident that happened Thursday afternoon in Covington.   The wreck happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. on LA Highway 25, right in front of the fire station for St. Tammany Fire District #12.  Firefighters sprung into action following the accident that involved three vehicles.

Firefighters and EMS crews helped rescue one person trapped inside one of the vehicles.   They then checked out others involved in the accident.  Of the three drivers, two were treated for injuries described as minor to moderate.  A third driver refused treatment on the scene.

Firefighters say they were able to get medical attention very quickly due to the close proximity of the accident to the fire station.  “Accidents happen and minutes matter. Our personnel happened to be in the right place at the right time to provide care within seconds”m says Fire Chief Darrell Guilott,

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Louisiana State Police.
