NOPD: Suspect 'sick' inside restaurant before shooting

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Police responded Friday to a shooting inside a restaurant in the Central Business District.

The shooting happened shortly before 4:30 p.m. inside the China Wall restaurant in the 1100 block of Canal Street.

NOPD Chief Michael Harrison said a man walked into the restaurant and was visibly sick and throwing up. A woman followed, and the two became involved in a argument. The man then produced a gun and shot the woman. She was hospitalized in critical condition.

After a short standoff inside the restaurant, the 23-year-old suspect was caught and jailed at Central Lock-Up.

Police believe the suspect and the victim knew each other. will update this story as more information becomes available.
