ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - A pedestrian died after getting out of his friends car on the interstate Saturday morning.
Nineteen-year-old Andrew C. Flores died after being hit by a vehicle on the northbound side of I-59 near Pearl River around 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
According to State Police, Flores was riding in the rear seat of 27-year-old Levi Craddock's Nissan Altima as Craddock was taking him home. For reasons still under investigation, Flores became belligerent and began to physically interfere with Craddock's ability to drive.
State Police say Craddock pulled onto the shoulder of I-59 and Flores exited the car and entered the travel lanes on I-59 where he was then struck by a Dodge Dakota driven by 26-year-old Danny Winkles and died.
Troopers believe Flores was intoxicated at the time of the crash and a toxicology report is pending. Winkles voluntarily submitted to a breath alcohol test and had no detectable traces of alcohol in his system.
The incident is still under investigation.
