Arrest made in St. Charles Parish's first murder of 2015

NEW SARPY, LA (WVUE) -

Police have made an arrest in St. Charles Parish's first reported murder of 2015.

Officers responded to a shooting in the 800 block of East Terrace Street around 9 p.m. on April 18. According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office, police found the victim, 28-year-old Warren Sanders, laying unresponsive in a ditch. Witnesses told police that Sanders was shot multiple times by 22-year-old Sidney K. Smith because of Sanders' alleged interest in Smith's girlfriend.

Smith turned himself in to the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center Sunday night. He was booked with 2nd degree murder.
