Michelle Obama set to visit New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - First lady of the United States Michelle Obama is visiting New Orleans Monday to praise the city for ending homelessness among veterans.

Obama is congratulating Mayor Mitch Landrieu and the teams that helped house more than 200 veterans last year as part of President Barack Obama's challenge to end veteran homelessness.

The first lady says New Orleans is the template for other cities that are trying to end veteran homelessness by the end of the year.

Landrieu says veteran homelessness will likely never go away, but says the systems in place now should ensure no veteran has to sleep in the streets of New Orleans again.
