On Thursday, April 16, 2015, the Kenner Police Department arrested a Kenner man for the rape of his girlfriend's 10-year-old daughter.

Police said the suspect, 25-year-old Hermes Rivera of West Airline Drive, is an undocumented immigrant facing three counts of aggravated rape.

On April 16, the mother of the victim saw a video recorded by her daughter on her cell phone disclosing that she and Rivera had “made love” three times. The mother confronted her daughter about the video and the girl said the sexual contact occurred in her bedroom.

After speaking to her daughter, the mother confronted Rivera, who allegedly admitted to having sex with the girl.

During an interview with detectives, Rivera said the victim asked him to have sex with her. The three incidents occurred between March and April 3.

Rivera remains in custody; no bond has been set.

Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser urges anyone with information about Rivera, to call the Kenner Police Detective Joseph McRae at (504) 712-2330 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
