Parolee sought in beating, robbery of girlfriend in Algiers

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

An arrest warrant has been issued for a man whom police said beat and robbed his girlfriend at gunpoint Monday in Algiers.

When he is caught 24-year-old Elton Williams will be booked with armed robbery, domestic violence, being a felon in possession of a firearm and using a firearm during a robbery.

Police said the incident occurred about 4:20 a.m. at the intersection of Elmira and Homer streets.

The victim said she and Williams were involved in a verbal altercation that quickly escalated. Williams allegedly punched the victim several times in the face, then produced a handgun and demanded her cell phone. The victim complied and Williams fled the scene in a black unknown model Nissan.

Williams is currently on parole for charges that include being felon in possession of a firearm, possession with the intent to distribute cocaine and resisting arrest.
