NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - It's an absolutely spectacular day with plenty of sunshine, blue sky and comfortable temperatures. Highs managed to hover in the 70s for most locations with dew points in the 40s. It is really going to be a great night at City Park for Swinging in the Oaks as everyone gets ready for Jazz Fest. Enjoy this evening because the perfect conditions won't last long. We are already seeing winds shift to the southeast pushing in more moisture and bringing humidity values up by Wednesday. Expect more clouds and even a few spotty storms. The Storm Predication Center places the area under a slight risk for severe weather although we don't expect widespread coverage any storms that do develop have the potential for heavy rain, high wind and hail.
Thursday looks wet to start as a disturbance pushes past. We can expect a few heavy storms within that system as well and again the storm prediction center has most of the area in the slight risk category. The good news is that it appears that storm complex will push through quickly and by the afternoon we will see drying and maybe a bit of sun breaking through. It's a big weekend ahead with Jazz Fest and the Zurich Classic. Right now it looks like Friday will work out with just clouds. Saturday still shows potential for some isolated storms. We will continue to monitor the forecast as we head towards the weekend. You can download the Fox 8 Weather App to keep up with the forecast and radar during all your weekend events.
