NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - It's been a lovely evening with mostly dry conditions and partly cloudy skies, but those clouds will make it difficult for any sky watchers to see much of the Lyrid meteor shower tonight.
We have an opportunity at some heavy showers through the overnight with some people running into wet weather for the morning commute. The Storm Prediction Center still keeps the area under a slight risk for severe weather heading into the weekend.
Thursday morning expect partly to mostly cloudy conditions with scattered thunderstorms. A few may be strong with high winds and hail. The rain should push through early with only a few scattered storms through the day. Temperatures will still be quite high in the 80s into the afternoon.
Friday still holds some potential for showers and thunderstorms, but we should see less coverage. The same as we head into Saturday. With so many big events this weekend hopefully we will have plenty of breaks for Zurich Classic, Jazz Fest and Navy Week. Make sure to download the Fox 8 weather app for interactive radar when you need it at all these big events.
