Tulane finishes off Cincinnati for first road sweep since 2008

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Tulane continued its hot hitting Sunday to cruise to a 9-5 victory over Cincinnati and in doing so, the Green Wave secured their first road sweep since May of 2008.  The victory also marked the program's 1,900th overall.

Tulane scored eight runs in the first four innings but a five-run sixth inning by the home team put the lead in jeopardy.

Junior reliever Ian Gibault entered the game in the sixth, retired three straight batters and went on to pitch four innings of relief, securing his fifth save of the season.

Tulane's batters secured double-digit hits in each outing of the series for the first time since May of 2013.

David Pierce's squad returns to action Tuesday, hosting Southeastern in the first game of eight straight at home. First pitch is set for 6:30 PM.
