Tornado Watch issued for Southwest Louisiana, Flash Flood Watch issued for New Orleans area: Swipe for details

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

South Louisiana braces for severe weather on Tuesday, bringing the potential for tornadoes and flooding in some areas.

The timing looks to be Monday afternoon through the overnight.

All types of weather are possible including hail, damaging winds, heavy rainfall and tornadoes. This risk looks to abate by Tuesday morning around daybreak.

The areas included in the tornado watch are:

Ascension Parish

Assumption Parish

East Baton Rouge Parish

East Feliciana Parish

Iberville Parish

Pointe Coupee Parish

St. Mary Parish

West Baton Rouge Parish

West Feliciana Parish

The watch has been issued through 1 p.m.

The areas under a Flash Flood Watch include:

Northern Tangipahoa, LA

Orleans, LA

St. Charles, LA

St. John The Baptist, LA

St. Tammany, LA

Upper Jefferson, LA

Upper Lafourche, LA

Upper Plaquemines, LA

Upper St. Bernard, LA

Upper Terrebonne, LA

Washington, LA

The Flash Flood Watch will go into effect at 7 a.m. and is scheduled to last until Tuesday afternoon.
