BATON ROUGE, LA (WVUE) - Gov. Bobby Jindal on Monday declared a state of emergency due to severe weather across South Louisiana.
A declaration of emergency is necessary to allow state agencies to respond to requests for assistance from local governments.
The severe line of weather that moved through our area today left thousands of homes without power and knocked down power lines and trees.
Kevin Davis, The Director of the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, urged all residents to make sure to have a game plan before any storms arrive.
Davis says because conditions can change so rapidly residents should monitor local media for warnings or advisories.
