Man threatens pair with assault rifle outside Elysian Fields restaurant, police say

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

New Orleans police hope the public can help identify a man wanted for an aggravated assault.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on April 13 at Melba's restaurant, located in the 1500 block of Elysian Fields.

Investigators say it all started after two men, ages 28 and 30, who were sitting outside of the restaurant got into a verbal argument with a man, who a short time later got an assault rifle out of a nearby car.

Police say the man then pointed the weapon at the two victims and threatened to shoot and kill them.

Investigators say after some kind of assault the man went back to the car where he retrieved the gun and drove off in the silver vehicle.

The suspect was described as a dark skinned black male, with a beard and a bald head. He was approximately 5'10” tall, about 160 pounds and was wearing a blue t-shirt and blue jeans, detectives say.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
